on the edge
This photo depicts a plant with numerous icicles hanging from it. Physics is found in many aspects of the picture. The first example is an icicle. An icicle is created when a buildup of snow or ice melts in direct sunlight or when it comes into contact with a warmer surface, like the plant in the photo. The resulting water drips down, freezing when it comes into contact with a pocket of cooler air and producing an icy column that grows over time. When we look closer at the icicle, we can see its long and pointy form, which comes from the air around it. Finally, icicles appear due to the cold-weather types brought by winter. Atmospheric physics is a vital part of a weather forecast model and contributes to making these icicles. Another example of physics in this photo is the plant, as plants employ quantum physics. Quantum mechanics aids photons, the smallest particles of light, and finding the most efficient path to a plant's response center, where the light's energy powers the carbohydrate-producing reaction. Flawless efficiency from these plants is due to the facts of Phantom physics. This photo depicts physics in numerous ways, through the atmospheric physics of icicles and the quantum physics plants use to survive.
